The Chamba Valley Trek via Indrahar Pass is an adventurous and scenic high-altitude trail that connects the beautiful Kangra Valley with the remote and untouched Chamba Valley. Beginning from McLeod Ganj, the trek takes you through lush meadows, rocky trails, and steep ascents to reach the breathtaking Indrahar Pass (4,342m). Beyond the pass, the trail descends into the stunning Kugti Wildlife Sanctuary and leads to Chamba, showcasing the raw, unspoiled beauty of the greater Himalayas.

Tour Plan
Day 1
McLeod Ganj to Triund (9 km | 5–6 hours)
- Altitude: 2,875 meters
- Meals: Lunch, Dinner
- Stay: Camp at Triund
Trek Begins:
Start your journey from Dharamkot or Bhagsu after a short briefing. Ascend through mixed forest with views of the Kangra valley. Reach Triund Hill, your first campsite with panoramic views of the Dhauladhar ranges. Rest and acclimatize.
Day 2
Triund to Lahesh Cave (6 km | 5–6 hours)
- Altitude: 3,300 meters
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
- Stay: Camp near Lahesh Cave
Trek Through High Meadows:
Climb gradually through Ilaqa Got and Snowline. You’ll notice the landscape turn rugged as you approach Lahesh Cave, a natural rock shelter and base for Indrahar Pass. Overnight camp in the wilderness.
Day 3
Lahesh Cave to Indrahar Pass to Chhata Parao (12 km | 7–8 hours)
- Altitude: 4,342 meters (Indrahar Pass), descend to ~3,500 meters
- Meals: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
- Stay: Camp at Chhata Parao
Summit Day:
Begin early to avoid strong winds at the pass. The climb to Indrahar Pass is steep and challenging but incredibly rewarding. At the top, soak in panoramic views of both Kangra and Chamba valleys. After a break, descend to the meadows of Chhata Parao for overnight camping.
Day 4
Chhata Parao to Kuarsi Village (13–14 km | 6–7 hours)
- Altitude: ~2,600 meters
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
- Stay: Homestay or camp near Kuarsi
Enter Chamba Valley:
Trek through high-altitude grasslands, alpine forests, and shepherd trails as you approach Kuarsi village, one of the first human settlements in the Chamba Valley. Interact with locals and get a glimpse of the rural Himalayan lifestyle.
Day 5
Kuarsi to Chamba Town via Vehicle (Drive)
- Meals: Breakfast
- Trek Ends: Chamba
A short walk to the roadhead, followed by a scenic drive to Chamba town. The trek ends with memories of an unforgettable Himalayan
